Gapporin (ガッポリン), also known as Pop'n Bounce, is a paddle puzzle game similar to the classic Atari game Breakout, released for arcades in 1997. It runs on SNK's MVS arcade board.
Overview[]
In Gapporin, the player must bounce a ball off a paddle in order to knock out a wall of enemy sprites. The game opens as Acorus and Riccia (both named for types of plants) are out stargazing, when suddenly a number of strange creatures appear out of the night sky. Guided by a white, pixie-like creature, Acorus and Riccia must drive back the invaders on land, in the sea, in outer space, and in a castle "variety area."
Rabio, accompanied by a never-before-seen blond "Lady," is the final enemy faced in the game. The backdrop of Rabio's stage features an elaborate design centered around an eyeball similar to the eye motif of some enemies in Sonic Wings 3, such as the rival aircraft and Pseudo-Bagarius.
