Komomo Kitashirakawa (北白川小桃) is the princess of Bunnyland, the granddaughter of king Taro Kitashirakawa, and the older sister of Kotomi Kitashirakawa.
Description[]
Throughout Video System's games, Komomo has been abducted multiple times by Yohmaoh and Gore. Despite being frequently kidnapped, Komomo maintains a cheerful attitude and seems to be independent; she even rescues herself sometimes when Kotomi takes too long to reach her. However, Komomo is described as being good and rather quiet.[1]
Komomo has long hair, which she usually wears with two strands hanging over her shoulders. In some instances, her hair is dark brown, while it is black with blue highlights in others. Likewise, her eyes are sometimes brown and sometimes blue. Komomo almost always wears a headband or tiara with two long white rabbit ears, and she sometimes wears a golden crown. She is also always shown wearing a white gown with a cape over her shoulders, held on with a clasp resembling either a large red gemstone or a carrot. In Sonic Wings Special, Komomo's dress has blue highlights. Komomo often wears long white gloves, which are sometimes fingerless.
The kanji for "Komomo" (小桃) mean "little peach," while the kanji for "Kitashirakawa" (北白川) mean "north," "white," and "river" respectively.
Rabio Lepus[]
In Rabio Lepus, Komomo is kidnapped by the demon king Yohmaoh's soldiers, along with her younger sister Kotomi and their grandfather, the king. The family is rescued by the mechanical rabbits Rabio and Lepus. Komomo is the last of the three to be found, where she is being held captive in Yohmaoh's palace by the demon king himself. Afterwards, she thanks Rabio and Lepus for their help.
Komomo appears as a teenaged girl with long black hair and brown eyes. She wears a white gown and a cape with a red gemstone clasp, along with white bunny ears on a headband and a small crown.
Rabio Lepus Special[]
Komomo reprises her role with no major changes in her appearance. Her hair is brown instead of black, and her headband is replaced by a tiara with the bunny ears directly attached. She also now wears white gloves. In the game manual's artwork, Komomo is shown to wear a carrot-shaped clasp on her cape rather than the red gemstone.
Metal Rabbit[]
Komomo is shown on two advertisements for this unreleased game, which was to share the setting of Rabio Lepus. Her attire is similar to what she wears in Rabio Lepus Special, except she wears the gemstone clasp instead of the carrot one. Her gown is shown to have a pink ribbon at the waist and on the skirt.
Ojanko High School[]
Activity: Kendo Club
Class: Second year, fifth class
Birthplace: Aomori Prefecture
Blood Type: A
Komomo appears as the mahjong challenger representing the kendo club, using the name Takano Izumi (高野いずみ). Upon defeating her, the player wins her wooden sword.
Sonic Wings[]
After the final boss battle in singer-player mode, Lord River-n-White returns home to his two granddaughters, Kotomi and Komomo. They think he's only joking when he tells them about his adventures as a fighter pilot.
Sonic Wings 3[]
Kotomi is a secret unlockable character. Komomo has been kidnapped once again, and Kotomi fights the enemy and searches the world to rescue her. After the final boss battle, Kotomi finally reaches Komomo, but the princess has already rescued herself with a very big gun.
In two-player mode, Kotomi is paired with "The Man," whose true identity is Gore. Kotomi asks Gore for help in rescuing her kidnapped sister, and their interactions are mostly professional. After the final boss battle, they find the base where Komomo is being held. Gore goes in the front while Kotomi comes in the back, just in time to see Gore kidnapping the princess. Gore escapes with Komomo, leaving Kotomi behind.
Kotomi's hair is again black, and her eyes are now blue. In Kotomi's 1P ending, Komomo is dressed similarly to her appearance in Rabio Lepus Special, except she wears the headpiece she has in Rabio Lepus. However, when kidnapped by Gore, she wears the tiara she has in Rabio Lepus Special.
Sonic Wings Special[]
Kotomi flies the Aka Usagi on a mission to rescue her kidnapped sister. In two-player mode, Kotomi is paired with Gore under the alias of "The Man."
Kotomi and Komomo are also shown in Lord River-n-White's 1P ending if the final stage is Another Dimension. He returns home to his granddaughters, who don't believe the story of his adventure.
One-Player Mode Endings[]
- Fight in Orbit final stage: Kotomi reaches Komomo on an alien planet, only to find that the impatient princess has already rescued herself.
- Another Dimension final stage: Komomo is glad to see Kotomi flying the Aka Usagi, but she has already rescued herself. She advises Kotomi to use a ribbon power-up, like Rabio in Rabio Lepus. When Kotomi responds that she was using a ribbon, Komomo tells her to be more careful with her missiles and not fire them arbitrarily.
- Bermuda final stage: Kotomi finally reaches her sister, only to have the king scold her for being late. As it turns out, she was only practicing the rescue mission, and the king makes her start over from the beginning. "Oh, again?" sighs Komomo.
Two-Player Mode Endings[]
- Fight in Orbit final stage: Kotomi and Gore rescue Komomo, but Gore flies away before the girls can thank him. This seems to be the only ending where Gore isn't a villain.
- Another Dimension final stage: Kotomi and Gore land at the base where the captured princess is being held. Gore tells Kotomi that he'll go in first, but when she enters, she finds that he has now kidnapped Komomo! The Aka Usagi chases after Gore's Diabloon with Kotomi yelling for Gore to wait up.
- Bermuda final stage: Kotomi lands at the base, but her sister is not there. She tries to question a soldier about Komomo's whereabouts, but Gore shoots him with an arrow before he can answer, saying he told him not to talk about the princess.
Sonic Wings Limited[]
Komomo appears on a monitor in the background of the Kyoto stage.
SukuSuku Inufuku 2[]
Komomo appears in a cameo as the "Goddess" (女神様), in keeping with her grandfather's role as God in the SukuSuku Inufuku series.
As the Goddess, Komomo has black hair and brown eyes as she did in Rabio Lepus. She wears a tutu-like white dress similar to her Bunnyland princess gown, but without a cape; the red gemstone brooch in on the bodice of her dress instead. Komomo has long white gloves with ruffled trim matching the trim on her dress, and a white choker with a pendant. Instead of bunny ears, Komomo now has Inufuku ears, but she still wears a crown between them.
Voice Samples[]
- "Arigatou, Usagi-chan!" ("Thank you, Bunny!", Rabio Lepus)
