Martians (火星人) are the red, octopus-like inhabitants of Mars.
Description[]
According to the defunct official Video System website, the Martians are a peaceful race which hates war. However, in Gapporin, the Martians are described as liking "universal conquest," and the site also suggests that a Martian pilots Gurabura.
When Martians speak, they often attach the suffix 火星 ("Mars") to their words. No one is sure how the Martians managed to build a civilization without having any hands![1]
Sonic Wings 3[]
Martians appear in the following game endings:
- 1P Whity (JP Mars final stage; US): After defeating the final boss, Whity wonders if Martians are like octopi. He discovers that they are, and to avoid being eaten, they offer him some Martian snow eel. Unfortunately, it's disgusting, and Whity blasts the Martians with his plane in retaliation.
- 2P Whity and Chaika/Pooshika: After the final boss battle, Chaika and Pooshika spy on Whity, trying to figure out how he can fly a plane. To their amazement, he takes off his head, revealing himself to be Captain Silver and Flint in a dolphin costume! But when the girls ask, "Really?" the game declares, "Well, no, not exactly" along with the images of two Martians. This enigmatic ending is never explained.
- 1P Hien (JP Mars final stage): Hien realizes that the war was caused the the Martian army fighting alone, and a Martian apologizes for the trouble. Hien says that he wishes for peace; the Martian agrees.
Sonic Wings Limited[]
If the player allows Osaru to escape, the bad ending shows it attacking Mars and the Martians.
Gapporin[]
The Martians appear in one of the space stages, along with UFOs with eyes. The pair's profile during the end credits states that they like "universal conquest" yet dislike invaders. Apparently "universal conquest" isn't so enjoyable if someone else is doing the conquering!
Escape Express[]
Two Martians appear in a cameo.
