Rabio Lepus Special (ラビオレプススペシャル) is a port of Rabio Lepus for the PC-Engine/TurboGrafx-16 game console, released in 1990.

Overview[]

For Rabio Lepus Special, several changes were made from the original game:

  • Instead of being divided into three stages, the "spaceship" and "asteroid" are each a single stage with multiple bosses.
  • Lepus is no longer playable.
  • A few of the enemies are different.
  • The game's introduction and ending are removed.
  • The graphics showing the royal family were completely reworked. The character designs of king Taro Kitashirakawa and princess Komomo are not changed significantly, but Kotomi appears younger than in Rabio Lepus, and she wears a full-body bunny costume like the king's rather than a leotard and bunny ears.

The game package includes a manual featuring all-new artwork, including a comic relating the game's backstory and illustrations of some enemies. The game also came with an application to send for a Rabio plush for the cost of shipping.
